“Jeremy came out to service multiple systems for our annual preventive maintenance. I was really pleased with his attention to detail and concern with ensuring everything was up to speed. He's very personable as well, and it was a pleasure to meet him. I think the annual preventive maintenance is well worth the cost because in the past, there have been several pending issues that were caught and fixed in a timely manner that would have resulted in much higher repair costs if they had not been caught early. Another thing I like about J L Anderson is that they never try to "upsell" you. Jeremy checked everything thoroughly and when he showed me some elements in the system that looked like they had a lot of mineral buildup, I asked if they needed to be replaced. Nope, he just took the time to very thoroughly clean them up and re-install them. That is the same experience I have had with other Anderson techs. This is clearly a company whose business model is to prioritize the best interests of the customer and relay on repeat business. I highly recommend them.”

That would have killed the sale. I was pleased with his service throughout the process. He was very accommodating. Jol's price was competitive with that of another HVAC company I have worked with for nine years. I think I got more for my money.

Bret and Noah did a good job. It was obvious Bret knew what he was doing. The quality of his work met my rather high expectations. The installation of the indoor coil and the distribution box was a great improvement over what I had. He did a good job checking on Noah and walking Noah through procedures Noah was not totally familiar with. Noah made an extra effort to clean out the electrical disconnect box on the side of the building.

“I just wanted to share an experience we had with Levi Wolff on Saturday 2/8/25. We unfortunately woke up to no heat in the house on Saturday and gave Anderson a call. Levi called us back within 20 minutes or so and was to the house within a couple of hours. He expertly diagnosed the problem and headed back to the shop to source a part. Unfortunately the part hard to be ordered and he again offered to come back out and bring us a few space heaters to help with the heat issues given its Winter time. He explained everything in great detail along the entire process and was obviously VERY knowledgeable in his work. “Marty arrived sharply on time after his call! Didn’t take much to explain the situation, and he stipulated the whole work up in a very organized manner in order to display where the problem was. He was professional with clear dedication and love in what he is doing. The problem was not in the AC unit itself, rather on the Zoning Equipment System! He tested the equipment in detail, only to confirm with certainty the mandate to overpass the Zoning Equipment until being replaced by a new one. He explained every single step in clear language. The AC works perfectly well with this initial stage of correction, waiting for a new Zoning Equipment System to be installed. Marty will be the person preferred to do this final stage. Thank you!”

“On 1/15/24 I left a dissatisfied review about being ineligible for after hours service even though I’ve been a long standing customer. Joe called me back the same evening and apologized and explained the why behind the new policy. Maintenance plan customers are covered after hours because too many off the street consumers looking for a quick fix were taking advantage of them leaving them stretched to service their loyal customers.
This makes perfect sense to me. Joe sent the service technician Tim out and he fixed my furnace in short order. I enrolled in the maintenance plan today. I’m always willing to pay for quality, service, security and dependability. I just didn’t know. This all worked out very well in the end. Thank you Joe and Tim!”

“I have been loyal to Anderson, but they have not been loyal to me. I hired them to install complete HVAC/heat pump+duct work in my last two homes. I got home from work tonight to no heat. It’s 7 degrees F outside. I called for after hours service, which I hate to do anyway, but got a call back from the service person stating that their current policy is “no after hours service unless you are subcribed to our maintenance program”. If I would have known about the quid pro quo arrangement I would have enrolled in the service agreement. For MANY reasons, I am an unhappy repeat customer tonight!”

Some of the little details that really mattered to us were –
The office called to get our approval to delay our equipment install to take care of an elderly couple who had lost their A/C in late August! Clearly this is a company that really cares about their customers and juggling work load. They still got our job done before the rebate reduction deadline and since our A/C was running fine this was no impact for us. Nice to know they care about their customers for when we may need emergency work! We saw this level of caring by everyone that worked on this job.
Combined replacement of Furnace and A/C has already cut my electric bill… from the way more efficient variable ECM blower motor (50+% amp reduction) to the twice as efficient A/C ( 16amp draw to 8amps), to the two stage furnace… We expect and have already seen big changes to our electrical bill. We should have done this equipment replacement years ago!

“When having a major home expense, i.e., replacing a 25 year old air conditioning unit and furnace, it’s usually difficult to choose a HVAC provider. Based on a recommendation from a friend we settled on JLAnderson Heating and Cooling and are pleased we made the right choice. Our initial interaction was with Joe who visited our home and described three options or do nothing and continue to pay for repairs to the aged system. No pressure, our decision. Based on the rebates available from Trane, the federal government, Vectren and Duke Energy, and replace both AC and furnace, we actually opted for the more expensive units as with the rebates for the higher efficiency option, it was not that more than for the lower (but still higher than our 25 year old system) efficiency units. I planned to change out my old standard water heater with a tankless unit some time this year. Got an ad last month advertising JL Anderson does this so out of curiosity I called for an estimate and met with Richard a few days later. The next day, the salesperson, Kurt, came to our house. He thoroughly explained our options and which unit best fit our particular situation. No upselling or pressure. He made us aware of some nice rebates and indicated that he could take care all of the paperwork.

On installation day, a three man crew showed up. I was pleasantly surprised to see Kurt had show up as well to make sure the installers were aware of all of the things we had discussed. The job was estimated to take two days, but these guys finished the work in one day. About a week after the installation, Kurt again returned to see if everything was working well and if were pleased.

I just don’t see how there could be any better example of sales and service…before and after the sale. Anderson has my highest recommendation and thanks.

Kurt confirmed the unit needed to be replaced. He explained the financing options; they were reasonable, affordable, and easy. Everyone at JL Anderson Heating & Cooling was wonderful! Since I didn’t have any A.C, Kurt and the ladies in the office attempted to ensure my family was comfortable by offering fans and window units until the new unit could be installed. Although we had to wait 2 weeks for the new unit to come in, JL Anderson Heating & Cooling worked quickly and kept us informed of any changes. When the furnace arrived, Kurt and the other workers were very polite, clean, and professional. They even replaced some of the attic vents that were ripped! That night I noticed that the air wasn’t getting colder in my house. Though it didn’t have anything to do with the furnace, I called JL Anderson first thing the next morning. They quickly sent Jacob out that afternoon. Jacob noticed right away that something was not right. He checked the line, the pressure, assessed it, and continued to be baffled by what it could be. Jacob didn’t rush though; he didn’t want to leave until the problem was taken care of. It was late, I am sure he was suppose to be off work, but he remained professional and polite the whole time. Eventually, he took the A.C. unit cover off and immediately realized what the problem was. The original company (who had replaced the motor and fan, as well as come out multiple times to service the unit) put the motor and fan in backwards 4 years ago! Therefore, for the past 4 years I have been spending a lot of money trying to keep my house cool, though unsuccessfully, due to a huge installation error made by that company! Needless to say, I was more than a little angry to discover I had been repeatedly paying to fix their mistake! However, I was also extremely happy that I finally had a working A.C. unit in my house after all these years! I was ready to write a check for whatever they asked, but Jacob looked at me and said, “Don’t worry about it.” What company does that? Jacob didn’t rush though; he didn’t want to leave until the problem was taken care of. It was late, I am sure he was suppose to be off work, but he remained professional and polite the whole time. Eventually, he took the A.C. unit cover off and immediately realized what the problem was. The original company (who had replaced the motor and fan, as well as come out multiple times to service the unit) put the motor and fan in backwards 4 years ago! Therefore, for the past 4 years I have been spending a lot of money trying to keep my house cool, though unsuccessfully, due to a huge installation error made by that company! Needless to say, I was more than a little angry to discover I had been repeatedly paying to fix their mistake! However, I was also extremely happy that I finally had a working A.C. unit in my house after all these years! I was ready to write a check for whatever they asked, but Jacob looked at me and said, ‘Don’t worry about it.’ What company does that? JL Anderson Heating & Cooling actually values their customers so much they waived some fees for me since I had just hired them for a furnace replacement, but was still having issues with my other unit! I purchased a heating and cooling system from J L HEATING and COOLING on June 19, 2018. Haven’t had much time to rate everything yet, but I can tell you this. “We called Anderson when the furnace seemed to be quitting in our (new to us) house in December. The technician who came out was very friendly, did some work to get it working and said to call if it gave us any more troubles. Unfortunately the loose wires he found that day weren’t our only problem, and he had to come back. When he did, he brought a more experienced tech in case there was something he was unsure about and they found our heat exchanger was cracked and we needed a new furnace. They were great about leaving us with multiple space heaters to get us through the weekend until we could meet the salesperson. The sales guy was great with us, took the time to tell us about the company, took a look at our house and made recommendations about what would be sufficient, what would be better, and what would be unnecessarily too much. “Three years in our home and the first good cold snap, and our nearly 20 year old furnace crapped out. We called JL Anderson Heating & Cooling. They came right away and confirmed the bad news. “My air conditioner quit working 4 days before I was to host my daughter’s baby shower in the middle of July when temperatures were in the mid 90s. I knew I was due for a new heating/air conditioning unit as the original equipment was installed in 1991 when the home was built. I contacted J.L. Anderson and Joe Kollman came out to give me the estimate on a new unit. Joe was very professional and explained my options very well. Although the new units couldn’t be installed for 2 weeks, Joe assured me that they would either get my air conditioner working or let me use a loaner until the new unit was installed. Their repairman came out and managed to get my air conditioner to work which is something a competitor was unable to do a few days prior. Fortunately, all were comfortable for the baby shower!
The installation took place exactly as Joe had said and the workers were also very professional and cleaned up any mess. I used JL Anderson Heating & Cooling (subcontracted through Lowe’s) to install a new Trane HVAC system in my 25 yr. old home. After presenting and explaining to me my options and choosing the system I wanted, Joe set up all the install details. Since the new unit would be about 2 weeks to arrive Joe even offered to charge/fix my old AC just so I could get by. The crew did an excellent job on the install. They were punctual, worked clean/safe and were friendly through the whole install. I still have nothing but praise for every person that I have ever dealt with at JL Anderson. From the individuals who come out for maintenance or repairs on my old system to Kirt taking the time to go through every part of my existing system, as well as what Anderson could offer us going forward. Also, it was nice to have Lisa taking care of everything else for us. She did all of our warranty registrations as well as any rebates we were eligible for. Our house recently reached the 20+ year mark and we came to the realization that we could no longer nurse our current furnace and A/C through another Indiana summer and winter. Our neighbors had used JL Anderson and had a positive experience with them so we asked JL to provide us a quote. My Wife and I bought our house almost a year a ago knowing that we will need to replace our 25 year old HVAC system soon. We had six contractors come to our house and some quotes were low some were high(er) some could start right away and others had to be scheduled. It was very interesting and a learning experience to me that one contractor would have one idea and the other would have a different idea. After listening to all of them I began to hear a few items over and over again which I keyed in on. My Wife and I knowing that this may be our last house wanting a system that will be very comfortable in our five levels of living space basement, downstairs, main level, upstairs, and second floor. The original system had two air returns and I wanted it redirected in to one main so that I didn’t have to buy or maintain two air filter systems. We also wanted something extremely efficient to help save money in the long run. After visiting with all six contractors we decided to go with JL Anderson Heating and Cooling. We picked JL Anderson Heating and Cooling because not only are they highly recommended and experienced is because they are professional, on-time, polite, constant communication, above and beyond. Our consultant (not salesman) I say this because Joe Kollman advised and quoted us a lesser system that would have worked fine but I wanted something great Joe Kollman and JL Anderson Heating and Cooling delivered. Joe brought which I believe was their Senior installer on site to evaluate my house and the future system to be installed. Both were very professional as I asked even more questions about the zoning and if the existing duct work that was installed when the house was built in 1980 would be able to handle what was to come. Duct work was measured and flow study was completed even considering the direction of the Sun rise and Sun set for my zoning. It was estimated it would take three days to complete the install including removal of my old system. Each day they started between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM after the second day I was wondering if they were going to make the deadline and on the third and final day they brought another tech. onsite making three total to complete the job. I must say that all three were very professional and polite their workmanship shows that they do care about what they do and I watched them complete a work of art. Detailing in the path of the wires they took, the plumbing and their routes, to the bends in the duct work. They even made the screen of my ComfortLink II XL1050 match my wall color! They were able to pull off the job in the time estimated and turning the system in to one air return like I requested. They were also able to free up an air return restriction that was done when the original system was put in. During the install Joe Kollman stopped by to make sure everything was going as it should and to see if we had any questions, comments, or concerns. Which there were no concerns just a lot of praise for the quality of work we were receiving. We scheduled our one week follow-up and Joe Kollman gave us a tour of the system and answered our questions we had we also got our smart devices on-line so we can keep an eye on the system when we are away. Did I mention this system learns, remembers, and predicts? Joe even brought over the paper work for energy rebates filled out that we just needed to sign that he would take care of! Our air condition XV20i is 55 db it is so quite you have to see the fan moving to know that it’s running it’s amazing!!! What is also amazing that going from one level to another and the temperature and humidity is all the same!!! We can even adjust the set points to either heat at a specific temperature or to cool at another (not at the same time for different zones) I still get a kick out of seeing and watching which zone is either closed, at 10% open or 60% open or wide open. Our furnace is also very quite with it’s variable speed. We wanted to see what would happen at wide open and we could hear and feel air movement throughout our home it was very impressive. Before we heard the old system running but we could never actually feel or hear air movement. JL Anderson Heating and Cooling – THANK YOU! We highly recommend you and have done so already! Please note that JL Anderson Heating and Cooling were not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive. I highly recommend doing your research and asking a lot of questions and taking notes and comparing those notes.

Everything went great. Joe met with me and we discussed options and needs. I had a few others quotes but Joe’s was the best and the payment options were superb. I decided on a 96% efficient furnace with a multiple speed motor and a 16 seer a/c unit. These were at least 2x better than what was installed with house 16 years ago. The installers showed up as scheduled and the install took 1.5 days as promised. Joe then returned and went over the new system and how to run it. He also filled out the required paperwork for the gas furnace rebate and filed it with the gas company. As part of the install a new vent was run. I noticed the vent as we were reviewing the system and said I would need to add a screen to deter birds from using as a nesting place (3′ outlet) and Joe said he would get something installed for me. Joe was great at helping walk me though each of the system components, and I never felt pressured into any equipment, as I did with another contractor. He offered to even provide temporary cooling between agreeing to move forward and the install date because they were booked for about 10 days. The guys were on time install day and kept their work clean, and worked around our dog. Joe recommended moving the A/C condenser from my back door, to the side of the house at no extra charge. This was something none of the previous contractors had mentioned, and made so much sense as the condenser was next to my patio and back door. We met a week later and he walked me though all the parts of the system, and what I need to do for future maintenance. Joe was able to listen to the problems we have heating and cooling our house and recommend a system that is astoundingly more efficient than what was original to our 90’s home. They got the job done right before Christmas as promised and offered to bring loads of space heaters to keep us warm during install. Joe was our initial contact that sold us the system and on the first morning of install he came back to introduce me to the guys that would be working at the house. I had no idea the guys had to do some extra work to dig the sinking A/C base out of our landscaping, they had all the rocks back in place and it looked undisturbed. My husband is an electrician and he was happy when he got home and checked their electrical and pipe work. They even left my utility closet cleaner than they found it. After install they came back and reviewed the new thermostat to make sure we were getting along with it. The touchscreen was never very responsive for us so after a few weeks I requested a new one and they switched it out with no hassles, works great now! Since everything was installed in the winter, they came back at the beginning of the air conditioning season to make sure it was ready to run. They made the process of getting our rebates from the gas and electric companies super easy and kept following up with us to make sure it was done after one company had a delay. Finally we don’t have $400 Vectren bills in February, our furnace can actually keep the house at the temp we set, and my brother-in-law doesn’t feel like he’s roasting when he visits in the summer.

From the very first meeting, to the last day of installation; we have been beyond impressed by the professionalism, courtesy and attentiveness, that was given to our situation. Our air conditioner finally quit after 30+ years (in the blazing heat of an Indiana July nonetheless), so we called Anderson about setting up a meeting ASAP; to discuss prices, products and timelines. Retro-Installation Foreman; Kirt; met us at our home and stayed for 3+ hours, discussing, in great detail, the different types of systems, payment plans, and dates of completion. He politely answered our endless stream of questions and carefully provided all of the details up front; with no red tape or hassle. We were immediately impressed by the lengths that Anderson goes to; in order to help make this a smooth process. Along with Kirt’s vast knowledge and friendly demeanor; the competitive quotes we were given, and the personal attention we were promised; made our decision easy. Anderson was the number one choice for us. Since we were fast approaching the 4th of July weekend; with a big party planned at our house; Kirt offered to bring an extra air conditioning unit from their shop, to our home, until our new system arrived. That was such a blessing! The Service Tech; Jared; who brought it out and installed it, was just as friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. He even wore shoe covers while walking thru our home; which is such a polite gesture of common courtesy, that very few companies think to do. Jared efficiently and easily got the borrowed unit up and running; and even offered to return for free, if anything were to happen over the duration of us using it. There were absolutely no problems with the borrowed unit; but given the high level of attention up to that point; I’m certain we would’ve been well taken care of, had there been. Over the following week or so, Kirt remained in contact with us via email to keep the process going smoothly and offer answers to any questions we might have had come up. The day before our installation, he emailed once again to confirm the process and their arrival time of 8:30 am. The next day; as stated; Kirt and (fellow Installer) Brent arrived on time and immediately got started working. They worked tirelessly in 90+ degree heat; never once breaking in professionalism. They kept their work area extremely neat and clean, making sure to be careful of everything in and around our home. When the work day ended at 5 pm, they both were quite thorough in explaining what they had accomplished thus far and what was to be expected for the next day. Upon their arrival the following morning at 8:30 am, they began work immediately with continued professionalism and courtesy, as they finished the installation. Shortly after completion at 2 pm, they began to walk me thru the whole system; patiently and articulately explaining how each part of the system operates and what we could expect from it. The thermostat was Wi-Fi enabled and they carefully walked me through that process every step of the way, making sure it was working properly inside our home and on my phone. Kirt and Brent also walked me through the process of a PM (Preventative Maintenance) Agreement; telling me what I could expect from that and when it would be needed. We decided to sign up for this service because they are so thorough and knowledgeable, we knew we could trust Anderson employees to ensure the proper working abilities of our equipment each season. (Side note: It makes sense to utilize this service; whether you have new equipment OR highly ‘seasoned’ ones!) Once this was all completed, Kirt took our Vectren account number to give to the office; since THEY would be filling out all of the necessary paperwork for our refunds and rebates. All we had to do was sign the papers and then wait for the check to be mailed directly to us! From start to finish, we never once doubted the ability of the company, its employees or their equipment. Tech (Ron) arrived later than originally planned, but had communicated this at the time.  Precision tune-up of the heating system (i.e.. furnace).  Ron took his time and treated the system as it it was his own.  Very professional HVAC technician.  He also took a look at a water elbow leading into the humidifier which didn’t appear to be passing water to the solenoid and blew it out saving the cost of what I thought would be a new solenoid.  After completion, printed out and e-mailed my invoice/receipt.  All in all, a great experience using a company new to me.

From the sale to the service, company personnel were in top form. One appreciates a sales person who gets the job done with just the right information at just the right time-with no pressure. (Homeowner was in sales for years) The installing technicians arrived on time; performed with excellence and efficiency; cleaned the work area at finish; and used shoe coverings when entering the living areas of the home. Then there are the little things: You can tell that the company fosters a culture of excellence because the finished installation looks "elegant"; meaning pipes meant to be vertical and horizontal are vertical and horizontal and corner at right angles. (Except the drain pipe, of course) To improve airflow inside the house, the technicians replaced several intake covers. Joe Kollman (sales) even informed us of the need for extra insulation in the ceiling above a bedroom.

Joe Kollman came to the house and explained the various components and advantages for each that pertained to my situation. He went through the costs, options and Trane financing. I did not purchase the new system at this time. I never felt pressured to purchase or hurry my decision. After several emails I decided what I needed and set up a time that was convenient.

Joe arrived the morning of the installation and introduced Kirt and his apprentice Brent who did the demolition of the old furnace and installation of the new unit. Both were very professional and paid good attention to detail. Kirt was especially meticulous and answered all my questions. During the installation they found a major problem that was not visible until the system was removed. The old duct-work has rusted out under the down-flow furnace. It was filled with a least 6′ of dirt and rock from under the concrete. Normally they would have had the furnace running by the end of the day but the rock removal and fabrication of new duct work moved that to the next day. Since it was in the low 30’s that night, Kirt made sure that all the connections to gas fireplace were reconnected so I had a heat source. The next day they finished the furnace and the a/c. They did a really nice job of running my vent and air return through the roof. The a/c unit had to be slightly relocated due to it’s larger size. The electrical and piping look very good and the patch to the siding from the old a/c unit was nicely done. All the areas looked cleaner than when they started.

When Joe came back after the installation he went through any setup and did an explanation of the components of the new system. He would have explained the setup of the thermostat but I had already programmed it. At this point we went through the financing. We were able to pay for part of it with a credit card and the rest was financed through Wells Fargo on their 60 month no-interest promo. Joe had already registered the new unit with Trane and finalized all the information about the Vectren/Duke rebates. He also mailed these forms in. He provided the Trane registration information.

I had a 30 year old HVAC unit. It was not broken but not enough to cool and warm, so I decide to replace it and looked for a company, My next door neighbor recommended Anderson for the work with his great experiences with Anderson. I also searched Angie?s List, and they had the best review, so I requested a price estimate. Joe from Anderson arrived on time and he was very nice, considerate, and professional with us. He explained very kindly to all of my questions. He provided the best estimates for both quality and price, looking at all registers, returns, house structures and exterior and the old HVAC, and even looked in the attic, which none of the other companies I contacted did. Despite our small attic size, he looked around and even offered to repair the broken duct system in the attic. It was very impressive. On the installation date, Joe showed up on time with the install crews The two technicians were very nice and courteous, and  very nice, clean and professional with their work, leaving little trace or hints of holes in the walls, etc. After a few days, Joe came back to explain what the crew had done, and made sure everything is ok, and helped me learn how to setting and use the new thermostats we got. An Anderson technician arrived at our home on the same day I called to report that the A/C was not working.  They offered to replace the leaking coil.  I told the technician that replacement would mean that our unit would have had 3 coils total and that with all the problems we had in the past it was time to consider replacing the entire 11 year old H & AC unit.  He offered to add coolant until we could arrange for installation as the forecast was for 90 degree weather.  I sure appreciate that suggestion.  There was no charge for the service call nor the coolant that was added since we had the system replaced.  We met with Joe a couple of days latter who made recommendations.  One suggestion Joe made was to relocate the A/C  to the opposite side of the house where it would be in the shade and out of view.  The new H & AC was installed.  Joe made a visit to review the system with my husband and me.  He assisted us in programing our computers and phones so that we can remotely check the current temperature of our home and adjust the thermostat from anywhere.  We are now comfortable!  We highly recommend Anderson and look forward to having them take care of our future needs.

My wife and I are remodeling our home in Brookston Indiana prior to moving back from Kentucky. We needed a new HVAC unit and contacted Anderson Heating and Cooling to get a quote on a trane unit. The service was outstanding, the products (furnace and AC unit) are of very high quality and the potential savings through rebates ($950) was a big selling point for us. We’re also told that our electric and gas bills will be cut nearly in half ($$$). I moved to Lafayette, 5 years ago and settled into an older tri-level home which was basically solid but needed improvements and repairs. Being new to the community included trial and error in choosing contractors to get things done. The old natural gas furnace had limped through last winter with several maintenance calls and the The A/C system had also seen better days and needed to be replaced.  After consulting Angie’s List and other reviews on the efficiency of local heating and A/C contractors, and the pros and cons of several brand name units, I talked with and got estimates from two contractors who left me with more questions than answers. Like most people, I was looking for an efficient product, dependable service and a fair price…not vague, I’ll have to check on that? as a reply to basic questions, or a sales pitch for unnecessary add-ons which inflated the total cost beyond my conservative budget. The third appointment was with J.L. Anderson Heating and Cooling…the one that I had first by-passed because they were the largest, best rated, and I wrongly assumed that they would be the most pushy and costly. The receptionist was very friendly, helpful and arranged the appointment for my convenience. Two days later, Joe Kollman, Anderson’s Comfort Consultant appeared at my door, right on time as scheduled. After introducing himself, Joe looked at the furnace and I told him that the Air conditioning was operating well, so far, but was probably as old as the furnace and I wanted to have both units of the same compatible brand – which, in this case is Trane. Joe did something the others had not done – he checked out the A/C, measured and studied the area surrounding it, which included an unfinished pattern of pavers almost the size of the patio on the opposite side of downstairs entry steps. It was my daughter’s project, almost finished, but the very crooked concrete slab under the A/C prevented her from laying pavers around the slab to frame it. Joe said, We can fix that. They would place a large base pad under the new larger unit which would cover the unsightly old slab. He gave me the dimensions for my daughter to work around. If she had time prior to installation to place the last pavers accordingly, the pad would rest on them. If she was unable to find the time, his crew would take care of it. On her first day off, she readied the spot. Joe was an experienced problem solver!

He showed me brochures of Trane units and suggested the appropriate choice for the size and layout of my home. There was no pressure or sales pitch on accessories I wouldn’t need. The few questions I might have had were answered as he explained exactly what his crew do, when they would arrive, how long it would take without unforeseen complications, which he didn’t anticipate, and what it would cost, to the penny. Due to the rainy, muggy weather, Joe said that they would install the air conditioner first so the house would remain comfortable, then remove everything regarding the old furnace, replacing all pipes and parts. Installation of the new natural gas furnace and A/C unit would be completed the following day. In addition, Anderson would take care of all the paperwork, including registering the units for warranties, and would submit the request for my Vectren Energy rebates. I expected him to ask me for at least a portion of the payment in advance, as the others had done and asked what was required. Joe said that AFTER all the work was completed to MY satisfaction and I lived with the new units for several days we could take care of that – but ONLY after everything was checked,  approved and any adjustments that might need to be made were completed – then and only then, I could pay him when he brought the prepared paperwork for me to sign for warranties and rebates. On the morning of June 28th, Joe came with his crew, introduced me to Scott and Craig and left. They got started immediately, with Craig dismantling the old furnace and its parts while Scott removed the A/C. Scott measured, leveled and placed the matching base pad and new 3 ton air conditioner meticulously even on the pavers – it looked perfectly framed.They were so quiet. When I looked in a few times, I was impressed with their progress and efficiency. Every scrap was removed neatly. The house had come with a large water softener which didn’t work. I asked if they would mind disconnecting it, which Craig did. They did me the huge favor or carting it away with the old furnace, so I wouldn’t have to find someone to do that chore. Service above and beyond the call of duty! Scott installed the lovely new Trane wi-fi enabled thermostat, and gave me a basic course in programming it. The job was completed by noon of the following day, and the utility room looks 100% better with the new, smaller but 97% efficient, uncluttered Trane heating system. Joe returned to check everything out, and, true to his word, gave me over a week to live with the units before returning to make sure that I was happy with everything, settle the bill and have me sign the prepared paper work for them to submit. He had been swamped with appointments all week, but was unhappy that the thermostat refused to give me access to the weather report app. He worked on phone and computer for at least an hour to remedy the problem, then had to rush to another appointment, but came back an hour later to continue to search for the solution. I believe that the application for the thermostat may not be entirely compatible with my Mac formatted computer – but Joe is determined to have the weather app working and would have worked with it until that small part of the whole was in perfect working order. I thought it was only fair that it could wait until they were less busy. For the first time in 5 years, my air conditioning is being evenly distributed throughout all 3 levels, and I know that even the lower level will be toasty warm this winter!  I want to add that with all of the extra time and help that my job was given, the cost was exactly the amount that I was initially quoted. There were no extra charges added. After my experience with J.L. Anderson Heating and Cooling, I feel confident that I have the best in efficient heating and cooling throughout Indiana’s often chaotic seasons, and should there be a problem or need, I can depend on the the Anderson folks to be there for me to fix it. I am an Assistant Pastor at Charity Baptist Church in Lafayette and we had to have some work done on our multiple units throughout the church. The pricing structure was comparable to a number of other estimates I had received over the past year, but going through Lowes allowed me to get a small discount (military). We’d never used them before, but they worked us in, even though they had 60 calls that day, they accommodated the time that was best for us, arrived within the time stated, took only about an hour and we had air! Brian was the tech who came. I asked him if we needed to do a spring check-up on it and he said he pretty much already did that while he was working on it. I’m pretty sure the spring check alone is about $117, so he gave us a really good deal, and the service was fantastic. My wife and I recently purchased our first home and one of the main downfalls to the new property was a need for a furnace and AC replacement. We were well aware of the expense expected from such an endeavor but ultimately loved the house and I started scouring through Angie’s List looking for installers in the area. If you are reading this then you are already well aware that JL Anderson is the stand out among the installers listed here and I’m happy to share that they absolutely live up to that reputation.
My first scheduled appointment was with Joe Kollman for the initial bid. He arrived right on time and was very professional throughout the entire process. He walked me through various dos and don’ts regarding my old system and made sure we were both on the same page at all times. Our schedule was pretty chaotic with not having moved in yet and Joe assured me that whenever and whatever our decision entailed they would be on board with it. We discussed the all important money aspect and he already had pricing available for me on the spot as well as various financing options available. Pricing was guaranteed and in writing before he left out the front door. All in all about an hour visit and he made quite the impression as it was a no brainer for my wife and I to proceed forward. I sent an email out the next day confirming which package I was interested in along with my schedule. Joe was back in touch promptly with an install appointment for three days later! The install went off without a hitch. Joe showed up on time with the install crew which was impressive in itself given the fog that morning. He introduced us, gave me a timeline for the work (1 1/2 days) and made sure everyone was on the same page regarding coming and going from the property. I provided them with a garage door opener, offered them refreshments if they needed and then left for the day. I returned the next morning to find them already there working and the new system virtually finished with only clean up mostly left. By the time we arrived back after lunch they were gone and the work area looked better than it did before they got there. They even programmed and tidied up my water softener which wasn’t even on their list of things to do, impressive! Very clean, custom install and this coming from someone in a similar line of work but on an industrial scale. I honestly could not have done a better job myself, perhaps even as well. Today was my last visit with Joe. He made sure we were ok with all of the work, walked through all of the system features and brought over all of the corresponding information. Rebate and warranty information was already pre-printed and ready to go and only after all of this had been squared away was payment discussed. To Joe, the install team and everyone else involved at JL Anderson, be proud of what you do! First class organization from start to finish and I honestly have no doubt I made the right choice. Even when I had concerns during the 4-day process, I was able to contact the installation crew after-hours to discuss these concerns till I was at ease with the situation. The rework done on the ducting helped clean up my utility room as well as increase functionality of the furnace. When the new heater was installed and the ducting was run downstairs there was a dramatic difference in temperature. They provided the second opinion and came in with a lower bid for repairs than the first company did. We scheduled the repairs to be done 1/10/2014 but as for the assessment they technicians were on time friendly and professional. The first company also had a longer wait time due to ordering parts. I was not familiar with JL Anderson until reading all the positive reviews on Angie’s List, so we decided to give them a try. Joe Kollman arrived right on time for our appointment and was very knowledgeable and patient answering my multitude of questions and subsequent e-mails before we finally made a decision. We were originally going to replace just our 20 year-old air conditioner but decided to have them replace the furnace as well so we could have two stage heat and a variable speed blower.  Our furnace was also 9 years old and noisy. We have a zoned system with two thermostats, and Joe completely understood what was needed to recommend the best option. The installers, Kirt and Cody, were extremely courteous and showed up on time. The HVAC installation took the better part of two days as expected, and they got enough done the first day such that the house was warm when we got home from work and through the night. They were very respectful of our house and left our basement cleaner than when they arrived! Their installation was the very best I’ve seen. Ironically, the night we were to review work with Joe, we discovered that our water heater had started to leak. Joe was able to rearrange appointments the next day to have Kirt and Cody back out to do the water heater replacement. Joe checked available options and reviewed those with me starting early the following morning. He made a special trip to our house to make sure the new water heater would fit and and was back out with the new unit in his truck staying to help his guys carry it to the basement (since we upgraded to a 75 gallon model due to teenagers in the house). In less than 24 hours, we had a new water heater and hot water. The entire system is amazingly quiet compared to our old equipment. Ron arrived a bit after the window provided by the company but called within that window to say he was on his way. Very personable and professional. He ran through the usual preventative maintenance and tightened the cover on the furnace for us, as it rattles from time to time. We discussed the rattle (coming from the blower wheel/motor) and he offered to send us a quote for the wheel and motor so that we know what we’re in for when the motor eventually goes out. We signed up for the service plan which will (effectively) cover a discounted spring A/C unit preventative maintenance, along with reduced rates for parts should we need service in the interim.

After doing a immense amount of research trying to figure out which HVAC company to install our new HVAC system we picked J.L. Anderson Heating Cooling and couldn’t be more happier with the end result. They are simply the best at what they do and it shows. After our 9 year old Bryant air conditioner started to blow hot air 2 weeks ago I knew it was time to replace it. We’ve been having problems with our Bryant a/c and furnace for the last 3 years and I didn’t want to invest more money into it. We decided it was time to install a new system. I began to research and call local plus surrounding HVAC companies for general questions and quotes on getting a new system installed. After I spoke with a few places including J.L Anderson Heating Cooling I went back to look at reviews and see which company was the best for us. I knew right away that J.L Anderson Heating Cooling was going to be the one for us. I called them back the next day and scheduled an appointment for a on site quote. Joe came out the following day and gave us a quote on multiple systems suited for our home and our needs. He was very knowledgable, professional, and honest with what was best for our home and gave us recommendations on which system he would suggest. After we talked it over we went with the Trane XV95 furnace & the XR16 AC system. Joe asked us if we were interested in a portable AC unit while our new system was going to be installed and with the weather in the upper 80’s we couldn’t pass the offer. The next day Joe came out with two portable AC units and set them up to use for the whole weekend till they were available to install our new system on Tuesday. Tuesday morning came along and Joe came by with Scott Colin who were going to install our new system. They started to work right away and installed the AC system on the first day. The next day they came and finished up with the furnace. The installation looks awesome and the overall process couldn’t have been any smoother. Joe came by the day after the installation was complete to make sure we were satisfied and to check the installation. He also went over the new thermostat, warranties, and rebate which was all filled out. I’d like to state again, we couldn’t be anymore satisfied and happy with J.L Anderson Heating Cooling. We made the best choice going with them and like another reviewer on here said, they got a customer for life! Jim and company were nothing but professional and friendly. Jim came out to the house to discuss the quote, checked out all of our existing equipment and discussed all of our options with us. He spent plenty of time with us and really explained their process and their product. He left us with a folder with some literature about Trane units and said he would get back to us by Tuesday of the following week.
On Tuesday Jim asked if he could sit down with us and go over the quotes. He and his regular sales guy Joe came out to our house again and sat down with us, explained our options and went over 2 quotes for us. They also offered to fix a few other issues we had in our utility room (some old copper gas lines) free of charge while they were working on the furnace.
We scheduled the install for the following Thursday and Friday. They arrived right on time and got right to work. They had the old furnace out, the old AC unit removed and the new furnace partially installed and the complete AC unit installed before they left that day. The following day they came back and completed the install. Our Utility room looks better now than when they arrived. The following week Joe came back out to the house to do a follow-up and go over the furnace with us. From first contact to install and follow-up, everything went very smoothly and professionally. Joe (sales contact) was very attentive to all concerns and issues with an unusual heating/cooling setup. From the first visit to the install to the follow-up, everyone showed up on time and completed the job in less time than predicted, even though we have a complicated setup with the air handler in the attic and no easy access. After the install, I had some concerns about how the new thermostat would work with our 50-year-old boiler. JL Anderson sent out a tech to ascertain that the setup was exactly right and go over the details with me. Contacted Anderson to see if they could help with resolving a significant leak failure in the Mitsubishi Mr. Slim outside condenser unit that another local company, Bowsher Heating and Cooling, had installed in 2012 in my barn.  After the Mitsubishi Representative reviewed the installation by Bowsher, they determined the significant leaks were caused by improper installation and not per manufacturer’s requirements and Mechanical code.  I gave Bowsher the opportunity to help resolve the problem, but they chose to be totally unprofessional in not correcting their error.

Joe from Anderson, quickly came to see the unit to understand the problem. He was very professional and knowledgeable of the Mitsubishi system. He quickly presented me with several cost options for repair. While pursuing to get repair parts, JD from Anderson was persistent in gathering critical information concerning my unit which ultimately led me to decide to replace the entire outside unit. During this process I had received 2 different quotes from Anderson for replacing the outside unit. When I asked about the different quote costs, Anderson readily said they would honor the lower quote. That is one honest company as all they would have had to do was explain why the later quote was higher and I would have paid it, but they didn’t. What a breath of fresh air to work with an honest and high integrity company as Anderson. The very next day after deciding to replace the complete outside unit, Cody and Kirt from Anderson came with the new unit and installed it  and had it operating in a couple hours! They were both very professional and took the time to show me how the unit was installed so I wouldn’t experience again the significant leak failures.

I have been in engineering and project management for over 30 years and found all the Anderson personnel to be very professional and extremely knowledgeable for the systems they are installing. As a result of Anderson’s honesty, professional customer service and being extremely knowledgeable of the systems they install and repair, I have decided to use them to completely replace my old home furnace/AC/humidifier system. We originally contacted them for a quote on approximate cost to upgrade to a high efficiency air conditioning system to replace the one that was installed when we built our home in 1994. Their field representative was very professional and knowledgeable about the product and what it would take to install. We received a detailed quote before he left our home. We did obtain two other quotes from local businesses but they were all higher priced and their representatives were not as accommodating and helpful as the one from Anderson. Joe of JL Anderson provided us with various options to replace our Heat Pump/ Air Handler with a Trane system. Joe was very thorough and provided suggestions for relocating the heat pump to another area by the house and running the lines more efficiently. We had many questions throughout the process and Joe was very patient and knowledgeable. He provided us answers in person, over the phone and via text or email. This made us very comfortable in our decision. The installation was scheduled to take 2 days and it was completed well within that time frame. The technicians arrived on time. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and worked efficiently. they put down drop cloths in each area they worked in to keep my home clean. Since it was still quite cold when they removed the furnace they furnished room heaters to keep the home warm. They complete everything I asked them to in the time frame they originally gave me. We woke up one Sunday morning in the middle of a huge snowstorm to find our furnace had quit working. The original company we had asked to come out and repair it said it was a safety hazard and they would advise a replacement, however they said it could take them at least two days to get the equipment we needed. We then called Anderson’s and regardless of the weather, Joe came out and first double checked to make sure our furnace really couldn’t be fixed. Then he advised us of our options and after we made a decision, he went back to the shop then returned to our house again to deliver a few space heaters that he offered to let us borrow that night since the high temperature would be below zero and we were worried our pipes would freeze. He agreed to have the new furnace installed the next day. The workmen who installed our new unit took time to keep the area clean and looking nice. We had heat again within 24 hours! Joe showed us how to work the new thermostat to get us by until our final meeting time which was to be after complete installation, as we had also decided on replacing the air conditioner. Due to the weather, the ac could not be installed until a couple months later-and Anderson’s still had not yet charged us for their services. Again, the workers kept everything looking nice and neat upon installation of the new and removal of the old unit. After all the equipment was installed, Joe came out again to show us how to maintain our new system and answer any questions. He also showed us step by step all of the functions of our programmable thermostat. Only after all of this did he charge us for the units and while we were signing the paperwork, he was already giving us everything we needed to apply for rebates from our gas service provider and to submit to our financial advisor next year come tax time. He even offered us a free air conditioner cover! The quality of work and customer service provided by this company was outstanding. If anyone was running behind schedule, they always made a point to call us right away and let us know where they were and how late they may be. I am confident that if we need anything later on down the road, Anderson’s will be available to help us at any time, which will have us referring to them for years to come!

Anderson Heating and Cooling provides Heaven not heating and cooling. I had a twenty five year old 90% energy efficient furnace. With its age and needing an AC unit I called Andersons.

From the initial contact to completion they provided stellar service. Their recommendations provided three levels of products. I selected the quote the best option and have been wow in the performance and service. The new equipment is great. The air distribution and flow of the heating has made my home a paradise in comparison to the old equipment. They were on time, efficient and effective. Great professionals and performance. If I had know how much of a change this would have made in the comfort of my home I would have done it years ago. We were having heating problems during the bitter cold temps in January. They sent someone out within 2 hrs of our call. The serviceman got the furnace working, but said the blower was old and on the verge of stopping permanently. Joe, the sales-rep came later that day and told us of possible options we could install. We so much appreciate Anderson’s honesty and they have never tried to sell us something we didn’t need.  They will not install a unit that your home doesn’t need. Two days later, during the -10/-20 degrees the installers put in the new furnace.  Thankfully we had a gas-log fireplace that kept us warm while we were out of furnace heat. We paid nothing up-front as they say they wanted us satisfied before receiving payment. Our home is warmer now and the new programmable thermostat is very nice and simple to operate.

Checked 58 year old furnace and made some adjustments because it couldn’t keep up with the extreme cold temperatures. It was working ok, but they recommended planning to replace it. I’m very glad I did end up replacing it otherwise my house would be 55 degrees inside again today! They sent out someone to give me an estimate. We are both new to this area. Neither he nor I had any idea as to who would be a good, reliable service company to call. I went to Angies List, got a 5 star rated company–J L Anderson. I was having regular (and expensive) maintenance issues with my home’s two geothermal heating and cooling systems. The expenses were so high I knew that the systems needed to be replaced with something new. The frustrating part was that the units were not that old – I had them install about 9 years ago. I contacted ARS initially, since they were the company that installed them. They told me there was nothing they can do about the poor reliability and were too quick to sell me new geo units. I then contacted JL Anderson because they also install geothermal systems. Their attitude was totally different. They wanted to understand why the current units failed so often. They arranged for another company to come out and perform a water analysis. They found the water was too hard and may be the cause. Anderson also questioned the water usage from our lawn sprinkler. Anderson also determined that our peak water usage was too high to support the geo system. This was starving the geo system of water and causing damage. Anderson recommended switching to natural gas and shared with me the pros and cons of geothermal vs. gas. The next issue was that my house was not connected to a gas line. Anderson worked with Vectren to see if a gas line could be brought to the house. Anderson installed two units. I now have gas heat and electric cooling. So far, a vast improvement in comfort compared to the old system. Sales engineer Joe at JL Anderson exceeded my expectations and provided me with exceptional customer service.

When it became apparent that the old system had cooled its last day we called several firms to look about problem and recommend current options available to the market along with price points. It did not take long to confirm that JL Anderson was the team we wanted to do the work. They have done maintenance for us on the old system and their attention to detail and their communication of information to the owner is top notch. Additionally they have done work on my mother in laws home system, our sister-in-laws home as well as replacing and old system for our next door neighbor.
After making sure what the failure was they sat down with us and gave us several option for replacement along with what the value of each option for the future at our home.
Upon making our choice they offered us several payment options to fit our needs. With this happening just before I was scheduled to retire they worked with us so that the project would happen the first week of my retirement  so that I could be at home to assist and answer any of their questions.
The three day project went like a well planned campaign completed by two excellent young men who communicated with the "old guy". It was a pleasure to watch things removed and then to see the new equipment come together. They were very meticulous in cleaning up behind themselves during the day and at the end of the day.
During this time they coordinated the duct cleaning so that it was done at the opportune time in the replacement sequence.
Upon completion of the project a representative came back to walk thru use of the systems along with the new programmable thermostat, humidifier, and general maintenance of the system.
After initial running we had a condensation problem near the AC coil and they were here promptly to figure our the source and repair the situation.
I just recently switched the system to the heating mode with a few touches on the thermostat.

JD came to the house after first phone contact, we discussed which system  I wanted and was pleased to find it was able to be financed for 60 months at no interest. After several calls, with me having a boatload of questions, and several proposals emailed back and forth, I finally settled on my system of choice. all through this JD was very patient with me and was as helpful as could be. and so it began. I placed the final order. within days the installers and equipment arrived. Our 15 year old AC needed replaced due to a leak. We scheduled an appointment to get a size and price estimate. While looking at our options we decided to also change the furnace to take advantage of the newer two stage technology. A price was established and installation was scheduled. Installation was finished on schedule and we were pleased with the work done. There was one issue with a sheet metal rattling noise. On calling back to the office, Joe our sales rep, came back to the house found the noise and fixed the problem. He also covered use of the system and how to use the different thermostat settings.

My previous AC had stopped cooling and a different company had mentioned the R22 was low, prompting a refill. A week later the AC wasn’t working again, so I called JL Anderson based on Angieslist reviews. 
They evaluated the unit and found a high side R22 leak within a few minutes. They sent out a person to quote a new system later that day at my request. Joe went over the options in detail along with some financing plans that were available. Since it was nearly 100 the week that the AC was down, he offered to install a temporary AC unit to cover us while the new one was being ordered.
I evaluated the info for a couple days and asked follow up questions, all of which Joe was able to answer in full technical detail. He ran the load calculations on the house which narrowed down things to two options and he gave me the pros/cons of each system. He also laid out which options qualified for different utility and federal rebates. 
I ended up going with a Trane XV95 furnace with XL16i AC plus humidifier unit installed for $9175 installed with a 60 mo. 0% financing offer. When I agreed to the sale he had the replacement unit trucked over and installed within 2 hours. That is GREAT response time. 
1.5 weeks later the install began. This took approx. 2 days during which time they ripped out the old units, tore out the old concrete pad, flushed the lines, installed a new pad. They then installed the AC first to get that running to minimize discomfort. The system install was completed the next day including running a new dedicated intake/exhaust line, new high end thermostat. The install was clean and professional and the installers were careful to not let the cats out. They also left the copper scrap at my request. 
The system works great, and about a week later Joe came back to settle up the paperwork. The invoice was identical to the quote down the the last penny. Also, the utility rebate paperwork was pre-completed and only needed a signature. The units were also registered for me ahead of time for warranty purposes. Joe then went over the system install as a final walkthrough and identified some features of the new thermostat.
Overall I am very happy with the install and they have lived up to their Angie’s List reputation.

I made the initial contact with JL Anderson after reading the reviews here on Angies List and having them recommended by a coworker.  Joe arrived on-time for the initial meeting and provided a very through explanation of our existing system and just by looking at the system he was able to accurately describe some of our problems without us having to tell him.  
We had a few other companies provide quotes but Joe was the most knowledgeable and he talked about things that could be changed with the installation of the new system to cure the temperature balance issues we have had in the home.
JL Anderson was not the cheapest bidder for the job but I am glad we paid the extra money to go with them (it was not much extra).
The installation was scheduled for two days and by 3pm on the first day they had our A/C back up and running.  The second day they completed the job by lunchtime.  The entire job looks very professional and is neat and tidy.  There were two installers and they were very professional and cleaned-up after themselves throughout the day – can’t say enough about how great it is to work with true professionals that take care of their workplace!

The entire process was professionally handled starting with meeting the salesman and ending with a walkthrough to review the installation and get instructions on operation and maintenance. I scheduled the installation within a week of meeting the salesman and deciding on the equipment and options. The installers were scheduled for two complete days but were able to do the job in less time. They had to work in both the crawlspace and attic in addition to the utility closet. The furnace had to be revented and the existing co-vented gas water heater was fixed in the process as well. Additionally they moved the location of the air conditioner compressor to the other side of the house where it was out of the way. Everything was cleaned up at the end although there wasn’t a lot to clean up. The equipment controls were thoroughly explained. All warranty and rebate forms were filled out by Anderson and ready to sign and send in to the utility companies. Overall it was a very good experience and I would recommend Anderson Heating and Cooling to others.

I came back from a trip to find the house hot; A/C was working’ but cold air not coming out. I thought I needed new a/c unit because mine was old. I submitted a message on their web site and was contacted early the next business morning, and they were able to get a technician out that same morning. This was a fairly routine visit. I was pleasantly surprised that the provider was able to provide same-day service: an 8 am phone call led to a visit around 1 pm. My 14 year old A/C unit started to fail and was loosing a lot of coolant and it was time to replace it. Anderson assessed my cooling needs and determined the best system for my house. They provided me a good price quote for a Trane XR15 install. The installers showed up on time the day of the install which also turned out to be during the hottest week of the year. They removed my old A/C unit and replaced it with the new one, replaced the evaporator coil and replace an old air filter rack. They did all the work in a timely manner and my A/C was back up and running in the afternoon the day of the install. Their workmanship is very good and everything was clean and neat when they finished.   Anderson even completed the warranty registration and filled out the energy rebate for me. I didn’t have to deal with any of that paperwork after the install.

He provided brochures on different types of systems and prepared an analysis of the heating and cooling need. Our new system was installed within one week after we ordered it. The technicians who installed it were friendly, knew their business, completed removal of the old system and installation of the new system in two days, and cleaned up behind themselves. The new system works well. It includes a variable speed furnace blower and two stage AC unit. It operates much more quietly than our old system. I assume it will be more efficient than our 20 year old HVAC system that had failed.

We needed a new AC system; JL Anderson was the most competitive of the quotes I obtained. Joe Kollman was extremely helpful in outlining the options available, and in recommending the appropriate system to work with my existing furnace. Joe also recommended a new humidifier to replace a broken unit, and also a new furnace filter box better sized to the furnace; he was kind enough to offer the filter box for free.

He took the time to walk through our house and determine if moving the furnace and air conditioner was even feasible. It was time to replace the furnace and AC in our house. We wanted to upgrade our system to include dual zone. We called to set up an appointment to discuss needs and size of unit for house. Our home is about 18 years old and I had to replace the A/C condenser fan the first week we moved in (two summers ago). I also noticed that the previous owner had the same fan replaced several years back. When the furnace blower motor started to make funny sounds, I decided it was time to replace it.

I started by asking local companies for quotations for a geothermal heating system. We are on a large lot, and a horizontal loop system would fit nicely. Of all the companies I spoke with, only Joe from JL Anderson advised me to stay with a natural gas furnace. Others recommended geo or some form of heat pump with electric backup heat.  After doing more research on the web, I learned that Joe was correct. Geo only seems to make sense for those in my area that are on electric heat. I also learned that switching to resistive backup heat would have complicated my whole-hose generator installation.

Before the work was started, the installation crew came to the house to verify the installation could be completed as promised.  This included the furnace orientation, the ability to zone the existing ductwork, thermostat placement on the second floor, etc.

The work started when promised, and completed on time (4.5 days total).  The installers were extremely professional, punctual and kept us informed throughout the project. They left the worksite cleaner than when they started. They even worked with me to determine the best way to connect the A/C condenser to the load-shedding contacts on my whole-house generator transfer switch.

The system has been running perfectly for two weeks now. We are extremely pleased. It’s a bit weird not being able to tell that the heat is on due to the variable speed blower and modulating burner. The features and flexibility of the 950 thermostat are very nice. We can even control it through our iPads and iPhones when we are away from home.

Selecting a new contactor is always risky. I’ve had good luck and bad luck in the past.  At this point, I only hope for a decent job. JL Anderson went above and beyond my expectations and I highly recommend that you consider them if you are in the Lafayette area.

Fantastic! My existing heating/air was 22 years old.

I appreciate being able to do as much homework as possible electronically and Joe Kollman at Anderson was great. We made contact in January via e-mail and arranged for him to visit my house and provide an estimate.  I had several questions afterward, which he answered completely.

Later in the spring, Joe contacted me to see if I had made a purchase yet.  He had an installation opening in the next week and wondered if he could fit me in. Again, he answered all my questions and I found I just couldn’t refuse! It should be noted that at the same time, I was working with two other companies and I did not receive the same quality of information and, frankly honesty.

Joe’s guys were at my house on time (early), were completely sensitive to my property (including my dog, Odie!). The job took the better part of two days and it was done on-time, correctly, and they left my place the way they found it. Yesterday I came home in the sweltering heat of the day (76 in April!) and was able to cool off with air conditioning.

The HVAC upgrade/replacement went extremely well. The representative I had, Joe Kollman, was very knowledgeable and responsive. He listened to what issues I wanted to address and recommended two systems. He highlighted the pros and cons of each. He responded to my questions at all times of the day and night via email. He sent me reminders just before the visit, progress reports during the installation process coordinated all aspects of the replacement, offered to give me training on the new equipment, and sent a follow up email to make sure all was well after the system was running for a while. Joe also helped process a rebate from my electricity provider. All I had to send was my account information and he did everything else. Anderson provided standalone heaters to keep the living spaces comfortable. They performed all cleanup associated with the work both inside the house and outside. The buzz is still there however They said they would come out  at our convenience and move the unit to the other side of the house, away from the living room and my bedroom.  As of now I am turning the unit on aux. at nite, which uses regular electricity. I not saving any money this way but it takes away the buzzing noise.  Even with doing this every nite,,,the first month I saved $123.00. From the first contact with the receptionist to the salesman and then the installers, it was a pleasant experience. She was very helpful in setting up the first appointment to evaluate our needs. Joe Kollman was on time for the appointment, listened to our concerns about warm and cold spots then  evaluated our home. He returned with his estimate in only a few days, explained the options and benefits of each. We agreed to the purchase and installation on that visit. They scheduled us for several weeks out, but my husband wanted it done sooner. They were able to accommodate us.

Since it had snowed 4 inches the day before the installation, I was shoveling the driveway so they could get into the house. When I explained to them that my neighborhood shovelers were on vacation, one of them took the shovel and cleared my driveway. They put down cloths to walk on and were careful about walls as they brought things in. They were very polite in our talks. We had heat by early afternoon. I had to be gone and asked them to set the thermostat for me, which they did. The second day was just as nice as the first.

Joe came back for a walk through to check on the installation, show me how to use the programmable thermostat and gave suggestions for adjusting the vents to control the temperature in the upstairs.

It was a very pleasant experience and I would highly recommend them to my friends.

As our furnace, A/C and water heater passed their 17th birthday, it became increasingly clear the it was time to upgrade while we could do it on our terms, rather than in the middle of a blizzard or heat wave. We met with Joe Kollman to go over our specific issues and requirements, and he did a great job of describing the pros and cons of various options. His recommendations were significantly less expensive than our initial ideas, saving us money on both the installation and the long-term operating costs. After we made our choices, he was able to accommodate our schedule requirements for a specific start date that minimized the impact of not having a water heater!

When the date arrived, the installers were on time, polite, and professional, and had all the old equipment out of the way in one day as promised. Installation required 2-1/2 more days, mostly because of the very tight quarters the installers had to work in. The entire furnace and A/C unit was replaced, including the 30′ refrigerant lines to the new compressor outside. The installers also ran new intake and exhaust piping for the furnace and re-used the old furnace/water heater flue for the new water heater. The A/C compressor disconnect was replaced with a modern unit, and the new water heater has a higher capacity burner so it is much better at keeping up with high demand. All the Rube Goldberg aspects of our old system are gone, replaced with clean, modern, professional-looking units that are literally better in every way than the units they replaced.

The only snag in the whole installation was when the technicians didn’t have a humidifier on their work order despite there being one on the quote. This problem was handled with a single call to Joe, with no hassle and minimal delay since they had a humidifier in stock – it had just been missed on the paperwork. While the big issues are obviously important, the J.L. Anderson Heating and Cooling technicians paid great attention to the small stuff, from straightening the old ducting with a new offset and plenum to conducting a mini-class with us on using and programming the touch-screen thermostat.

Our new Trane furnace and air conditioner has worked flawlessly, maintaining much more even temperatures throughout the house than the old furnace and A/C ever managed. The two-speed fan system is quieter and more effective than the old single-speed unit, and the high-efficiency design not only doesn’t waste conditioned air in combustion, it eliminates the thump and roar from an open burner, so the new furnace is nearly inaudible. The new water heater has a much larger burner than the one it replaced, allowing it to recover much faster and eliminating concerns about running out of hot water if a third person takes a shower, or the dishwasher and clothes washer are running at the same time.

We are extremely pleased with the work and the finished product from J.L. Anderson Heating and Cooling. I recommend them without reservation not only for their professionalism and the quality of the work performed, but also for their attention to detail and their up-front, no-nonsense way of handling problems without excuses, foot-dragging, extra charges or delays. We have 2 systems at our house and J. L. Anderson had replaced our other system in 2007. At that time they did a thorough analysis of our heating system and came up with ideas for making the heating more uniform throughout the house. This is a problem because the house is over 100 years old and there is no return on the second floor. This second system is in our addition. We have been using J. L. Anderson to service both of our systems each year. The technicians had been suggesting the system in the addition was not working well. It had a very difficult time during the heat wave this summer, so we decided to replace it. Having worked with this company already made it very easy to get a new system. It went well. They started on time, were neat in appearance, clean. They removed the old unit one day and left so I could get in the area and paint the walls. (sorry guys that I never got to it). Then they came back and had to do some repair work below grade. Then the install and a few days later our sales person, Joe came back to walk us through what they did and help us program the thermostat. It wasn’t until then that he presented us with the invoice. He was not going to ask us to pay until we were satisfied with what they had done.

We recently replaced our A/C and furnace in our home. The replaced units were inefficient, undersized and approaching 20 years of service. We also had a lot of trouble with keeping the upstairs cool even with the A/C on all day. Rather then wait for them to fail we decided to seek out estimates for replacements.

We requested estimates from 4 highly-rated (on Angie’s List) companies in the area and decided to go with JL Andersen. All 4 companies determined that our A/C unit was undersized by a full ton, but their methods were quite different. One seemed to simply guess, one did a walk around of the exterior and two measured room sizes and the exterior for precise load calculations. Joe with JL Andersen did the full inside and outside measurements and even went into our attic to evaluate our insulation and duct work. None of the other companies even offered to check the attic.

When Joe came back he gave us some startling news – one of the duct work junctions in the attic had been stepped on and had separated two of the rooms from the HVAC system! We have no idea whether our home inspector had done it or simply missed it when he was up there, but it was no wonder we had been having trouble cooling the upstairs. Joe reattached the ducting as best he could and said they would be more than happy to replace that junction. He also actually listened to us regarding our concerns about the upstairs temperature and made a recommendation of running another supply vent into our master bedroom (it only had one and is a large room with vaulted ceilings). We noticed a difference right away when Joe reattached the partially crushed ducting.

Of all the assessment/estimates, Joe was by far the most thorough, knowledgable and worked with us every step of the way. He offered us several options of efficiency ratings and available features (one of the other companies gave us a this is what we’ve got sort of feel – one efficiency rating, one thermostat package, etc). The JL Andersen quote was a bit more then two of the other companies but with Joe’s above and beyond approach and the 10 yr parts/service warranty we were sold. We went with a 15 SEER 3.5 ton A/C and 95% efficient 80,000 BTU furnace (old units were 11 SEER 2.5 ton and 80% efficient 100,000 BTU).

Once we decided to go with JL Andersen Joe came back to install the new supply vent and fix the crushed ducting a few weeks before the system installation to try and get us as comfortable as possible while we waited for the new A/C and furnace. Just those changes made a marked improvement on the upstairs comfort. When installation time came around they were able to do the whole job in less then two days in July 2012 (one of the hottest months in one of the hottest summers in Indiana) with no disruption to our comfort. They got the new A/C unit functioning on the first day and did finish-up work on the second. The installation went incredibly smoothly. Joe scheduled a check-in a few days after installation to answer any questions we might have and walked us through the advanced features of our thermostat. We had a concern about the humidity in the house, so he enabled a setting that allowed us to create a set point that would run the A/C a bit more if the humidity was higher then we wanted. He followed up a few weeks later to make sure everything was still great. And it is!

We are very happy we decided to go with Joe and JL Andersen for our A/C and furnace replacement. If the A/C is any indicator we will be toasty this winter when we use the new furnace. An expensive home purchase is never fun, but we had such a positive experience that we recommend them to anyone who’ll listen.

We obtained quotes from six vendors. The Anderson cost was a little higher than the others but included a 10 year parts and labor warranty. No other vendor would give a warranty beyond one year parts and labor and a few more years for parts. The person we dealt with was knowledgeable and personable and we were very impressed.. I decided to replace my furnace and AC unit in the fall of 2008. I ultimately decided on J.L. Anderson because of the price compared to other companies and the reputation of the Trane brand by service technicians on various websites. Also their company has about 80% certified technicians as compared to maybe at the most 30% at other companies I contacted. Also, I got the best warranty from J.L.Anderson. I was very pleased with their professionalism and punctuality in getting the work done. They were also eager to return if you had any questions after the work was done. The book for the programmable thermostat was one that covered several models, and so I had trouble with that, and the serviceman came back to help me with that.
